Located where two rivers, the Rhine and the Düssel converge Dusseldorf is of North Rhine-Westphalia with most of the city lying on the banks of the Rhine River.
Dusseldorf is one of the principal German communication centres with mobile telephone and communication companies based in the city. Beginning in the 1960s the city maintains strong links to Japan with many Japanese companies having their European headquarters in the city. This gives Dusseldorf the third largest Japanese community in Europe with the vibrant Little Tokyo neighbourhood the only place in Europe where Japanese life is so concentrated
Düsseldorf’s Altstadt (Old Town) is home to around 260 pubs and bars, located in a relatively small area. The old town has original cafes, bistros and restaurants a plenty and a real buzz about it day or night.
For the best views in the city take a trip up the 240.50 metre high Rheinturm TV tower and experience the revolving restaurant and observation deck. On a clear day visitors can see Cologne Cathedral. The tower has the worlds largest digital clock thanks to a light sculpture that shines onto the tower shaft.
The city is also home to Germanys largest Christmas market running from early November to 23rd December and attracting visitors from near and far.
